Interview with Freddie and Ola Lee Allen, a married couple living in Hamilton Park, both from Marshall, Texas. The Allens discuss their family backgrounds and education, Mr. Allen's service in the Navy during WWII and work in the construction business, Mrs. Allen's work with Richardson ISD and Richland College, their children, moving to Hamilton Park, the neighborhood's development, organizational activities with the Civic League and others, the schools, desegregation, and the "buy out."

Interview with Effie McQueen from Marshall, Texas. McQueen discusses her childhood and education, attending North Texas State University, participation in civil rights activism, getting the streets of south Denton paved, Quakertown, employment and discrimination, her church involvement, the Denton County Courthouse, and reflections on the town. In appendix is a photo of the Denton County Courthouse and one of the Den County Confederate Memorial.

Interview with Travis Womack Jr., a Army WWII veteran from Marshall, Texas, who served with the 307th Airborne Engineer Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division. Womack discusses his family, education, basic and airborne training, deployment to Morocco and movement through North Africa, the invasion of Sicily, the Battle of San Pietro, the Anzio campaign, going to England, marrying, fighting in Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge, disguised German troops, and the end of the war. In appendix is a detailed account of the Italian campaign written by Womack.

Interview with Clarence Broadnax, a business owner and civil rights activist from Karnack, Texas. Broadnax discusses direct action challenging segregation at Dallas-area businesses, the unification of the Dallas civil rights movement, being jailed, civil rights figures, the Dallas Committee, segregation at sports games, becoming the first black hair stylist in the area, the Kennedy assassination, Barack Obama, nightlife and recreation in Karnack and Dallas, the Civil Rights Act, Dallas as a community, and reflections on his experiences.

Interview with Audrey Kariel, former Mayor of Mashall, Texas, discussing her family, upbringing in Corsicana, being Jewish during World War II, segregation, her education and marriage, becoming Chairman of the City Commission as Mayor of Marshall, Texas, race relations over the years, and becoming Chair of the Marshall Chamber of Commerce.

Interview with Selwyn Burgin, a former member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Big Sandy, Texas. Burgin discusses growing up, joining the CCC in 1934, assignment to a camp at Maydelle, Texas, boxing on his first night in the barracks, transfer to Lindale, projects worked, engineering training, leave and recreation, transfer to Marshall, paperwork, the relationship between CCC workers and local residents, and thoughts on bringing back the CCC for current generations.
