Geology and Recognition Criteria for Veinlike Uranium Deposits of the Lower to Middle Proterozoic Unconformity and Strata-Related Types: Final Report (open access)

Geology and Recognition Criteria for Veinlike Uranium Deposits of the Lower to Middle Proterozoic Unconformity and Strata-Related Types: Final Report

From synopsis: The discovery of the Rabbit Lake deposit, Saskatchewan, in 1968 and the East Alligator Rivers district, Northern Territory, Australia, in 1970 established the Lower-Middle Proterozoic veinlike-type deposits as one of the major types of uranium deposits. The term "veinlike" is used herein for this type of deposit in order to distinguish it from the classical magmatic-hydrothermal "vein" or "veintype" deposits. The veinlike deposits exhibit distinct geologic features and are now known to include the largest and the richest uranium deposits of the world. At present they account for between a quarter and a third of the Western World's proven uranium reserves.

Statistical Techniques Applied to Aerial Radiometric Surveys (STAARS): Principal Components Analysis User's Manual (open access)

Statistical Techniques Applied to Aerial Radiometric Surveys (STAARS): Principal Components Analysis User's Manual

From abstract: A Principal Components Analysis (PCA) program has been written to aid in the interpretation of multivariate aerial radiometric data collected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) under the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) program. The variations exhibited by these data have been reduced and classified into a number of linear combinations by using the PCA program. The PCA program then generates histograms and outlier maps of the individual variates. Black and white plots can be made on a Calcomp plotter by the application of follow-up programs. All programs referred to in this guide were written for a DEC-10. From this analysis a geologist may begin to interpret the data structure. Insight into geological processes underlying the data may be obtained.

Stream Sediment Detailed Geochemical Survey for Date Creek Basin, Arizona

From introduction: The purpose of the Date Creek Supplement is to characterize the chemistry of sediment samples representing stream basins in which the Anderson Mine (and related prospects) occur. [Wyoming Uranium Evaluation] Volume 1: A Summary of the Geology and Uranium Potential of Precambrian Conglomerates in Southeastern Wyoming (open access)

[Wyoming Uranium Evaluation] Volume 1: A Summary of the Geology and Uranium Potential of Precambrian Conglomerates in Southeastern Wyoming

From deposit: Since 1975 a cooperative effort between the United States Department of Energy, United States Geological Survey, Geological Survey of Wyoming, the Geology Department, University of Wyoming, and various industry groups has resulted in the discovery of a series of uraniumthorium-and gold-bearing conglomerates in Late Archean and Early Proterozoic metasedimentary rocks of southern Wyoming. The mineral deposits were found by applying the time and strata bound model for the origin of uranium-bearing quartz-pebble conglomerates to favorable rock types within a geologic terrane known from prior regional mapping.

Volume 3 is a geostatistical resource estimate of U and Th in quartz-pebble conglomerates. This volume contains supporting geochemical data, lithologic logs from 48 drill holes in Precambrian rocks of the Medicine Bow Mountains and Sierra Madre, and drill site geologic maps and cross-sections from most of the holes.

[Wyoming Uranium Evaluation] Volume 3: Uranium Assessment for the Precambrian Pebble Conglomerates in Southeastern Wyoming (open access)

[Wyoming Uranium Evaluation] Volume 3: Uranium Assessment for the Precambrian Pebble Conglomerates in Southeastern Wyoming

From introduction: The Geology Department of the University of Wyoming was asked to make a geostatistical assessment of the uranium endowment of these deposits as a part of the World Class core drilling operations of the Bendix Field Engineering Corporation. This study was to include (a) the development of optimum geostatistical methodology for assessing uranium endowment in areas of close drill control (1 mile or less centers) as well as in areas of distant drill control (5 mile centers or more), (.b) the implementation of this methodology in assessing the uranium resources of the pebble conglomerates in southeastern Wyoming, and (c) the determination of the overall geostatistical uncertainty of the resource estimates. In addition, methods were to be studied for projecting the assessments into new areas, including prediction of estimate uncertainty.

Baker 1° x 2° NTMS Area, Oregon and Idaho: Data Report (Abbreviated)

From introduction: The data presented here are reconnaissance data intended for use in identifying broad areas for further study. While care has been taken to provide reliable sampling and analyses, verification of individual analyses is beyond the scope of this report. The data should be viewed statistically because "one-point anomalies" may be misleading. Regional trends, however, should be reliable. This report is one of a series presenting data obtained by SRL reconnaissance.
