Cpl. Koenig from Alvin, Texas was a field music stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Santa Barbara, California, with MAG-24 before deployment to the island of Bougainville. Three soldiers in the center of the frame hold an archtop acoustic guitar, a violin, and a mandolin. The soldier playing the violin is smoking a cigarette. The rest of the soldiers look toward the musicians.
