Silt Deposits

Photograph of silt deposit caused by flood. The 5 or 6; rain Sept. 26, 1959, caused hundreds of silt deposit areas on tributaries of the Red Rock Creek. This silt deposit area is 1 mile below a proposed detention dam site.

Pumpkin and Corn Grown on Farm

Photograph of Sam Holmberg with pumpkins (corn in background) grown on his farm. Pumpkin crop goes to Erick Band Mothers for purchase of band uniforms. Last year pumpkin crop of 1/4 acre produced $185 for Holmberg son's Senior class which was used for trip to Washington. Holmberg is 1959 Father of the Year in Oklahoma as well as being a suprevisor in the North Fork of Red River SCD. Holmberg is an excellent conservation farmer on his 640 acre farm.

Photograph of a close-up of the new type of harrow plow being used by H. J. Becker. Note the crankshaft on the end of the frame. The harrow goes in circular motions making about a one-fourth turn and leaves straw evenly distributed over the field. Bunches of straw are eliminated thereby improving drilling operations. OK-929-3.
