In the letter Carmean is calling the advisory committee to a meeting on October 19, 1990 at 5:00 PM. After the meeting Carmean has invited the committee members to a cocktail reception at his home, in honor of the online teachers who have helped the educational reform program. Carmean writes that he has attached a separate invitation to the party to the letter. The invitation is not present with the letter.

If we reserve the space way -- -- -- -- --, we can reserve one or both classrooms that[they] are adjoining, I think, seating 45 – 90 people, and have access to audio communication with Nebraska via an 900 telephone located in the room. Two TVs are in each room for viewing. We -- -- able to tape the program, but that will depend on the ---. Sharon explained that the satellite set up in media library is just for receiving. The only production capabilities are with TAGAR ---. She wasn’t sure what the possibilities are there.

A North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts newsletter for the September 1991, Vol. 2 No. 3. The newsletter features an article, "Museum Educator Named To UNT Staff." North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts and the University of North Texas welcomes Nancy Berry, with a one-year appointment, who graduated with degrees in both art history and art education. Berry has a rich-background in museum education and will become an invaluable asset to the Art Department.

A document relaying a conversation held with Sheila Brown, director of Prairie Visions. Prairie Visions is working on distance learning and plans to do their state renewal conference by uplinking with others and sharing dialogue. Brown also expresses interest if North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts were to be involved in the satellite conference.

A letter from John Paul Batiste, Executive Director for Texas Commission on the Arts, to Mark Elder, Assistant Vice President of Research at the University of North Texas, informing Elder that his grant application for the North Texas Institute for Educators in Visual Arts (NTIEVA) has been accepted for the amount of $4,422. Batiste notes that since Elder's funding has been lower than he has requested, a revised project budget is needed within 10 days.

In regards to the success of the 1991 summer institute in the implementation of DBAE, discipline-based art education and that the teachers and administrators from Plano worked very hard for the two weeks. NTIEVA has already begun to plan for the 1992 summer institute and need some materials from the district by October 15, in order to insure the continuation of funding from the Getty Center. Incidentally the second page of the letter is to Ronald Caloss, from September 20, 1991. The second page finishes the letter from the first.
