Caption: "Cartoonist Bud Fisher, a comic strip pioneer whose "Mutt and Jeff" became just like members of the family to millions of Americans, died today of cancer. He was 69. Fisher, ailing for a year or more, became critically ill about three weeks ago at his Park Ave. home. He was moved to Roosevelt Hospital and died there this morning. He had no close relatives."
