Gat Korean man's hat of black stiffened buckram and crinoline. Flat, round crinoline brim with black lacquered willow stiffener at the outer edge. Tall cylindrical crown with flat top. The top of the crown is embellished with a black filigree silhouette sandwiched between the two layers of buckram. Long black gauze ties attached at the base of the crown.

Jobawi

Traditional jobawi Korean hat to be worn by a child when in a hanbok. Formed of two basically oval panels with extending "tabs", sewn together for part of one end and along "tabs", with most of hat "open". Exterior of black damask with very faint black Korean(?) characters and symbols. Interior of rich royal/electric blue damask with floral motifs. At top and at base of "tabs" are purple cording knots and tassels, and connecting string. No labels. Measurements flat: 9" x 11".
