Mr. Salas has written to request that South African Airways be denied permission to land in Houston in light of South Africa's civil rights violations and treatment of black South Africans.

Letter from Lillie DeAnda to Sterling Houston, prominent San Antonio playwright. She thanks him for helping and attending the SAYL (likely the San Antonio Youth Literacy organization) Gala kick-off party. She is happy that he will attend at a forthcoming gala in March.

Letter from Tommy Calvert, research chairman of the Black Coalition on Mass Media (BCMM), to Jerry Moon, general manager of KAPE radio. He is sending the broadcasting station a few suggestions on how to best offer incentives to future employees who wish to remain in broadcasting.

Letter from Congressman Henry B. Gonzalez to Jeffrey Simpson congratulating him on acceptance of his appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Also included is a signed certificate indicating Simpson's acceptance of his appointment. There is a small piece of paper attached to the front of the letter with a note from Thelma Andrews, a member of the San Antonio chapter of The Links, Inc. addressed to chapter president Margaret Winn. Both the letter and certificate of acceptance are photocopies.
