The announcement also includes a cast of characters and a synopsis of incidents throughout the play. Hon. Geo. Mellerch, Odd Fellow lecturer, opened the event. The Denton String Band furnished music.

Announcement and invitation to the closing exercises and commencement at Texas Normal College in Denton, Texas in 1891. The closing exercises include a musicale by students of the Department of Music on June 17, exercises by the Scientific Class on June 18, and annual commencement and presentation of diplomas on June 19. The invitation was printed on Argyle Linen paper and bears their watermark.

Certificate to post office from Frank H. Hitchcock, Postmaster General, authorizing the post office in Denton, Texas to serve as a postal savings depository.

L. W. Kemp wrote Colonel John V. Singleton in response to a complaint about an inscription on a historical marker in John Simpson Chisum's honor. The discrepancy concerns the actual date of Chisum's death.

The permit certifies Ed Richards the authorization to erect a monument in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery for Dr. M. L. Holland on December 10, 1954. The document was witnessed by Chas. C. Orr, Jr., City Secretary.

Two letters from Dr. Edwin D. Moten to Don Moten and Walter Davis, both on October 10, 1943. In the first letter, he discusses asking servicemen for news about who is being drafted, and hopes that his son will not be called. In the second, he acknowledges receipt of the Davis' rent, and advises him not to send the Motens a turkey if it will be too much trouble.

Group of unidentified individuals, a few holding cakes, stand behind a table with a variety of baked goods on it at the Denton centennial celebration. Based upon certain elements in the photograph and an article that appeared in the Denton Record-Chronicle, we believe that this photo was taken on either April 10 or 11, 1957. According to the article, "A pre-Centennial food show and household exposition was held at the Penn-Reynolds-Jones, Post 840, American Legion, 629 Lakey Street... The food demonstrations will be directed by Mrs. Hazel Washington of the Carver Kitchen. The general theme of the program depicts 100 years of Negro progress in foods and better homemaking. A quest contest will be conducted. Prizes will be awarded by Noble Holland, Legion post commander." "Amicable Ammons Belles attended. Mrs. Ruby J. Knight and the Belles entered the cake baking contest and won second place. Mrs. Rufus Ebron, mother of Miss Imogene Ebron, was awarded first prize." We do know that Noble Holland is pictured, second from the left. Mrs. Ruby J. Knight is first from the right. And the two prize winners, Mrs. Rufus Ebron and her daughter, Imogene, are also pictured.
