Photograph of Wilson DeGroot and wife packaging strawberries. Good soil management makes strawberries. Contour rows, fertilization and check-row cultivation has simplified labors. This "pick-em-yourself" four acre project grossed $1,600 in 1960. Over 2,000 people picked for home use according to DeGroot. This retired bricklayer says his hobby is interesting and profitable.

He, with Mrs. McCoy, having been on this land since 1905 are cooperating with the Little River Soil Conservation District [LRSCD] to make half of their 80 acre farm into forest.
