Decree from the Marques de Croix prohibiting, without royal permit, the manufacturing or sale of gunpowder. Also included are the penalties to be administered for those guilty of dealing in its contraband. This decree includes both printed text and pieces of paper with tape around the edges containing hand written text.

Communications concerning a marriage license for Joseph Antonio Losano and Maria Guadalupe Gimenes; Losano is a Mestizo, and Gimenes is a mulatta. In the following text Antonio Larralde mentions that Losano says that there are no obstacles with obtaining the license but there is no priest around to perform a wedding.

Manuscript of a royal decree concerning the book about Regicide and Tyrranicide written by Fray Vicente Mas de Casaballs of the Order of Predicant friars; according to the decree this ideology must be stamped out, all teachers and students must observe section 15 of the Council of Constance. Included at the end is a torn, and stained bando, covered in tape against gambling and a request that all officials see to it that it is obeyed.

Report on the death of Maria Garcia, whether a suicide or murder. Garcia, found hanged, and her cadaver was placed in the public square, is the wife of Felix Basquez. The report contains details on the investigation that determined she committed suicide.

Decree from the Marques de Croix, Viceroy of New Spain, to all the towns in the various cordilleras of the country, explaining the rules for the sale of tobacco; it includes details on where it can be sold, how it can be sold, as well as the taxes pertaining to the sales.

Printed royal edict from the Marques de Croix concerning deserters from the Spanish Army. The edict says that anyone harboring deserters will be prosecuted, however, those who turn in these deserters will be remunerated.

Letter from Juan Fernando de Palacio, Governor of Nuevo Santander, to Joseph Martinez de Soto Mayor, Alcalde de Laredo. Palacio acknowledges that he received the letters from de Soto Mayor concerning a woman who hanged herself, but the documents concerning the case should be kept in the Alcalde's file; de Palacio says that de Soto Mayor should continue raising funds for the Church.

Printed edict from the Marques de Croix to the Justicia de Laredo informing him, and the other parish priests and magistrates, of the importance of teaching Indians the Spanish language so that they can be taught Christianity.

Printed Bando from the Marques de Croix noting that nine merchant vessels and two war vessels are anchored in Veracruz. It goes on to talk about the date of "La Feria" where, in Xalapa, all merchandise will be sold.

Manuscript of correspondence between Joseph de Rubio and military officers from Ollos, Burgos, Cruyllas, San Fernando, Real de Minas, Camargo, Mier, Revilla, and Laredo. In the text de Rubio gives advice and instructions on how to deal with the increased crimes, and Indian attacks.

Orders from King Charles III to Bishops, and other members of the Church, to preach and practice respect for the Crown, the family, and all government officials. The orders, distributed in New Spain by Viceroy Marques de Croix, also call for them to limit activities to religious ones.

Manuscript of a Bando from the Viceroy Marques de Croix letting the Governor of Nuevo Santander that the fleet has arrived in Veracruz. The first printed edict is from the Marques concerning the eradication of the Jesuit School of Thought; none may teach nor any university allow their books in their possession. The printed Bando is from the Marques and contains a referral by the King to a previous "Real Cedula" where religious authorities are not to give asylum to criminals hiding in churches.
