The text begins with a long title at its top, "Datos y Fechas muy útiles para provar la injustica con que se ensañaron en mi las distintas Autoridades de Los Angeles California." A wide column of text begins below the title and extends across three pages, filling the available space. Handwritten words and markings appear to the left of and within the printed text column.

The Texas State Historical Association Quarterly Report includes "Papers read at the meetings of the Association, and such other contributions as may be accepted by the Committee" (volume 1, number 1). These include historical sketches, biographical material, personal accounts, and other research. Index is located at the end of the volume starting on page 337.

This text contains the first portion of the Austin Papers, published as part of the Annual Report of the American Historical Association. This volume includes a preface by the editor with a general history of the Austin Papers and states, "The Austin Papers are the collection of materials accumulated by Moses and Stephen F. Austin in the progress of their busy enterprises from Virginia through Missouri and Arkansas to Texas. They consist of business memoranda, physiographical observations, petitions and memorials to local and superior governments, political addresses and proclamations, and much personal and official correspondence" (p. v).
