She discusses her childhood and education in Mexico city; the decision to pursue a career in the field of political anthropology; decision to open the Oak Cliff Center for Community Studies; work with Camposanto del Cemento Grande and other community organizations in Dallas; work to increase Hispanics’ access to college; and involvement in immigrant rights movements and local Mexican American political groups. This interview has Spanish and English translations.

Cronicas del tiempo

Recording of Diego Losa's Cronicas del tiempo. This piece is an acoustic transcription of memories - the past, present, and future in the form of a story of a travelling man. This work, composed and played through a multi-channel system, deals with the unconscious; a reflection on sensations drawn from original sounds of Buenos Aires recorded at various times and then transformed with GRM Tools.

Suite Paramo

Recording of Manuel Ramos Negrete's Suite Paramo. This work was inspired by the novel 'Pedro Páramo' by Mexican author, Juan Rulfo. The interest of this work lies in it's musicality and poetry, which persist throughout the text. The situations which this piece captures are of a universal nature: resentment, guilt, anger, eroticism, fidelity, and death. This piece was commissioned by Mercier MP Daniel Turp, to whom the work was also dedicated.

Recording of Luís Antunes Pena's Anatomia. This work was created as a phonetical deconstruction of the text "Amor" by Jorge de Sena. The words provide the sonorous and rhythmical material of the piece and, simultaneously they become itself loud poetry. The music is sometimes an instrumentation of the text and, other times the text is music.

Oscura Frontera Milenaria

Recording of Adolfo Núñez's Oscura Frontera Milenaria. This composition was heavily inspired by poetic text taken from the book "Europa" by Julio Martínez Mesanza. According to the composer, this text can help first world people be in the shoes of third world people. The work flows like several waves that are reviewing and transforming the material. This work was commissioned by the Universidad de Navarra. The instrumental ensemble used to record this composition was conducted by Vincente Martínez.
