The Texas Building opened in January of 1926 although it did not go by that name at the time. The building cost $100,000 and had an elevator service. The original owners were O. M. Curtis and W. E. Smoot. It acquired its current name in 1965; it also went through extensive remodeling in that year. The work in 1994 began in January with the outside work beginning of June.
