[First Union Pacific passenger train leaves Ft. Collins]

This photograph depicts one of the most eventful days in the history of Fort Collins, Colorado. The date is July 15, 1911 and the time is 7:20 am as the Union Pacific's first passenger train departs from the city. Observe the beautiful old-time steam locomotive, an American, type 4-4-0 locomotive, heading a consist of handcrafted wooden cars, having underbody truss rods and open platforms.

[Union Station in Washington D.C.]

This massive structure is the Union Station in Washington D.C. on July 25, 1969. This terminal has a total of thirty tracks, of which nine are through tracks and twenty-one are stub end. A portion of the station's tracks are electrified by the overhead catenary system thereby Permitting Penn Central's GG1 Electric Locomotives heading passenger trains, the "Metroliners", and electric powered multiple unit commuter trains to serve the terminal.
