Caption: "Three downtown Oklahoma City buildings were ripped apart early Saturday morning by an explosion that killed one person and sent 19 persons to hospitals for treatment. The explosion at 7:50 a.m. occurred in the 100 block E Grand wrecking the Janger Produce Co., 108 E Grand, and an adjoining cleaning plant and cafe. Killed in the blast was Mrs. Faye Lutts, 30, an employe of the Janger company and mother of two children. A total of 11 persons were hospitailized in three Oklahoma City hospitals after the blast. Eight others were treated and released. Fire Is Threat Police and fire rescue crews labored for more than two hours at the scene hunting for the injured. they braved the possibilty of a second explosion for the rescue work went on while gas flames shot from the rear of the building. A smell of natural gas was strong in the area......Spectators said the blast blew out the front of the 140-foot building and dropped the dome roof on the employees working on the first floor. Caption: "A two-story, brick produce company building, a cleaning establishment and a café in the 100 E Grand were demolished by an explosion by and explosion Saturday morning. One woman was killed and 21 persons were injured. Killed in the blast at 7:50 a.m. which rocked the east side of the Oklahoma City business district was Mrs. Faye Lutts, employe of Janger Produce, 108 E Grand. Police and firemen dug feverishly for two hours for another woman rmploye believed trapped in the rubble of the two-story building. However, it later was discovered the woman, Dorothy Strader, already had been removed and taken to a hospital under another name. Seventeen persons were hospitalized and six other suffered slight injures in the explosion. For more than an hour, police and firemen braved the danger of a second explosion as gas flames shot jet-fashion from the rear of the ruins while they dug for a half dozen persons trapped inside the produce building......Eight persons, three of them employees, were inside Irene's cafe, 110-A E Grand. Six of them were hospitalized, but all escaped certain death by dying underneath a heavy wooden counter …
