Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "A two-alarm fire swept the Mayflower Lounge at 1135 NW 23 early Monday, causing an estimated $10,000 damage. Fire marshall John Anderson said the fire was discovered about 4 a.m. in the frame house that houses the bar. The building was empty at the time. The fire, which apparently started in the basement, licked up the walls and destroyed the roof while leaving much of the inside intact. Anderson said the cause of the fire could not be determined since the basement was full of water from the hoses. Spray from the hoses glazed the intersection at NW 23 and Classen, making travel hazardous. City sand trucks sanded the vicinity about 6 a.m., allowing traffic to resume. A hot piano was cooling off Monday following Mayflower Lounge fire."
