Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Scenic And Expedient is this proposed skyway across the southern portion of Belle Isle Lake. It is designed to take the pressure off Classen traffic circle, shown above at left. The circle, at the intersection of N Classen and Northwest Highway, is becoming one of the city's worst bottlenecks. Our artist, sees the skyway this way when completed. The elevated would begin near the Santa Fe tracks on the east and connect on the southwest side of the lake with the U.S. 66 leg running from Nothwest highway to NW 39. Ed Kauffman, urban engineer of the state highway department, predicts the skyway would channel about 60 percent of the vehicles away from Classen Circle, solving a serious traffic problem. Plans are under way. It has been approved by the federal bureau of roads."
