Photograph taken for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Automobiles killed 667 persons in Oklahoma last year, left 18,009 injured, including 1,800 permanently hurt, in the wake of their blood-smeared tires. The new figures, released Saturday by the safety department of the highway commission, are based on statistics issued by the state health department, and vary slightly from previous ones. Injury totals were computed from national averages. Furthermore, injuries of at least 27 of those still living probably will prove fatal. Of those killed during the year, 81 were under 15 years of age, 386 were boys and men between 15 and 60 years and 95 were girls or women of the same ages."
