Caption: "Years of talking came to end Aug. 3, 1959, when a power shovel ripped down a building in two minutes signailing the start of construction for Oklahoma City's new Federal Building and U.S. Court House. Construction came to an official end in the last week of Novemeber, 1961m when government inspectors officially accepted the building from contractors on condition that late modifications be finished....Although construction started in August, 1959, initial planning was started in the mid-1930's. It wasn't until after World War II that the proposal gained in impetus. the Korean War delayed planning for a while. The cornerstone for the building was layed Sept. 23, 1960....................Included are four judges, the district court clerk, U.S. commissioner, U.S. district attorney, U.S. marshal, prodation officers, bankruptcy referee and the U.S. Secret Service. The U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals will have chambers on the fifth floor. Judge A. P. Murrah, chief judge of the appelate court, will move his chambers into the new building..."
