Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "The North Canadian was on the loose in northwestern Oklahoma Wednesday, flooding fields, washing out highways and damaging railroads and bridges. The picture above shows the MKT bridge north of Laverne, which appeared in danger of washing out. The pressure of the water left the rails twisted into an artistic pattern, tying up service."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Yes, it was a little wet out in the vicinity of Laverne Wednesday as the North Canadian jumped its banks and swirled over a broad area of farm land. Fortunately, most of the low lands which were inundated had a few houses and farm buildings. However, this farm home north of Laverne caught full fury of the flooding waters. The Laverne vicinity was hardest hit by the flood which was due to crest near Woodward early Thursday, more than four feet above flood stage. No lives were lost."
