Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Tinker Diagonal is moving ahead at a good pace, reports the highway department. Anticipated completion time is 1961, but a lot depends on when the air force moves buildings that block the path on the north edge of Tinker Air Force Base. This aerial photo by Jim Lucas, Daily Oklahoman staff photgrapher, shows where the diagonal shoots southeastward toward Midwest City from the Gary Expressway. the Gary road swings west toward the city at this point. the west approaches to the bridges over the North Canadian river are virtually complete, and the bridges are 96 percent complete. Work is in progress on virtually the entire length of the Superhighway, which will run 6 1/2 miles from this point to a half mile east of Tinker. the project will cost more than $10 million."
