Early edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri and translated by Louise Brooks. The cover of the book is a light blue color with black ink. Starting at the top and reaching towards the middle of the cover is the branch of an evergreen tree with long thin needles. The illustration carries onto the spine of the book which also has the title and the name of the publisher. Also on the spine is a strip of paper with "GCW" on it for Gustine Courson Weaver. On the title page is faded text with the title, subtitles, and names of the author, translator, and publisher. On the opposite page is a full color illustration of Heidi playing outside. She has one foot on the ground and the other in the air. Her arms are raised up above her head. In the background is dark green foliage and a dirt path. The illustration is captioned with, "Heidi spring joyfully about." Below the caption is a handwritten note in pencil.

The illustration on the cover is of Heidi standing barefoot in a grassy field with one of her arms petting a goat with a bell on its neck. In her other hand she is holding a bouquet of flowers. Behind them in the background are the tops of mountains coming up from the ground. The dust jacket's spine section has more damage that was repaired in the same manner as the front cover. Behind the repaired sections are the title and author's name. In the center of the spine has stripes and a bouquet of flowers as embellishments. On the title page has the author's name, the titles of the book, as a singular abridged version and the unabridged versions. It also has the revisor's, illustrator's and publisher's names.
