Stokus and Soil Conservation Service technicians at Madill, Oklahoma for Marshall County Soil and Conservation District supervisors. An old Oliver 2-row lister planter was used. Planter parts and listers removed and replaced with 2 shovel plows. Foot piece of plows jointed and will trip if rock is struck. Photograph of Mr. W. L. Chiddix and his son with 36 sacks of lespedeza seed, divided up as six 100 pound sacks of cleaned Korean lespedeza and 30 sacks of uncleaned seeds. Mr. Chiddix estimated his total harvest at 300 pounds of clean sericea and 1000 pounds of Korean Lespedeza seed. He expects to sell 600 pounds of clean Koren lespedeza seed and plant all of his uncleaned seed on his own farm. Some farmers in this have bought small model clipper cleaners and operate them with washing machine motors. AR-D25-4.

Photograph of a Finn mulching machine demonstration. A Finn Klodbuster consisting of a series of chains with picks, which revolve on swivels as it is being pulled. A variable weighed slope wheel keeps the chain at an approximately right angle to the towing vehicle on slopes 3:1 and steeper. Here the Klodbuster is being used to spike or tie down a straw mulch. The unit should be long enough to cover the area with one through, to avoid leaving a deep track on the dam made by the wheel at the end of the chain. OK-215-3.

The feed chute is adjustable to load heights for bales material. The mulch is spread by a 24 inch centrifugal fan powered by a 36-HP motor, at 2200 rpm. Dissected Gypsum Bedrock on Cimarron River Tributary
Photograph of a Cimarron River tributary that has dissected the gypsum bedrock. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Tributary of the Cimarron River has dissected the gypsum bedrock. Notice the many directions that the bedrock is tilling as it is affected by this dissection. Where tributaries are relatively close, the gypsum rock is tilled in all directions which causes the breaking and heaping of the bedrock and the exposure of the underlain clay to water that eroded small caves, bridges, etc. Canyons are usually Vernon clay loam, 5 to 12% slope of the Shallow Range site. Foreground is Cottonwood-Vernon complex of the Gypsum Range Site."
