[Tower at Airport to Meet Goldwater]
Photograph of John Tower (right), former U.S. Senator from Texas, meeting Barry Goldwater (left) former Republican U.S. Senator from Arizona at the Wichita Falls airport during Tower's bid in a special election to fill Lyndon Johnson's U.S. Senate seat. Tower was successful in the special election in April 1961 and later won in the runoff in May 1961.
