From abstract: This report summarizes the results of a reexamination, in 1930, of the Contact mining district, in Elko County, northern Nevada. A report published as a result of a visit in 1910 summarizes the major features of the geology of the district, and the principal new data in the present paper pertain to mining development occasioned by the completion of a railroad through the camp in 1925.

From abstract: Anthracite Ridge is in south-central Alaska, on the north side of the Matanuska River Valley, about 200 miles north of Seward, the coastal terminus of the Alaska Railroad. The specific object of the investigations in this field during the summer of 1931 was to collect information regarding the character and extent of the anthracite deposits. These studies were carried on in connection with similar intensive studies of deposits of other kinds of minerals throughout the country tributary to the Alaska Railroad.

From Introduction: "Material for this report was gathered during the last quarter of 1928 and the first quarter of 1929, when the author visited the quick-silver-producing districts of California, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington and Arizona to view the progress made in recent years and gather material for a comprehensive study of the present-day quicksilver industry of the United States."

From introduction: This report describes the deposits of analcite in the Green River formation, to compare them with other similar deposits, and to present them with other similar deposits, and to present the observations and inferences that led him to explain them as alteration products of volcanic ash that fell into an ancient saline lake. The report also records the occurrence of several thin beds of sepiolite, or meerschaum, in the Green River formation and presents new data on the molds of saline minerals of the Green River formation whose determination affects directly the interpretation of the analcite and sepiolite deposits.
