The Spokane, Washington chapter has collected a $1,200 member assessment under threat of expulsion from Links. Langford has enclosed the check but would like the area and national directors to reconsider the intended use of these funds. She and other members of the Spokane chapter believe it is inappropriate to hold a lavish party at the National Assembly during an economic recession that is taking a toll on so many Americans, and particularly on black families.
