To William Dolezal, supervisor of the eat Canadian Soil Conservation District, the water deep enough to dive into from the bridge 25 years earlier. Silt from upstream farms has clogged the channel. Photograph of 4 of a series of 6. Reservoir constructed for a fourfold purpose. Stockwater, irrigation, flood control and an all-weather roadway. Covers 78 surface acres and has approximate 230 acre-feet at the spillway elevation. 24 inch drop inlet through the fill. Elevation of the drop inlet one foot below emergency spillway. 6 inch pipe through the lower part of the fill is for complete drainage. All-weather roadway is over the top of the fill. Riprap for the protection of the front slope against wave action. Constructed with inmate labor and reformatory-owned equipment. Upstream portion of the drop inlet. Inspecting inlet from left to right: Wayne England, employee of the Federal Reformatory staff, and Elza C. Bullen, Work Unit Conservationist (WUC) and the Soil Conservation Service (SCS). Emergency spillway in the background. 6 inch drainage pipe can be noted at the right center of the picture. OK-77-10.

Gully Control by Fencing

Photograph of gully control by fencing, sloping tree planting and protection from grazing in fall of 1937. Gully banks were sloped and trees planted. Trees have made some growth and other vegetation is becoming well established due to protection from grazing.
