Extract of a letter from Naoyoshi Kuchinaka to Colonel Oliver Trechter originally written on behalf of a Japanese Army soldier, Tatsuo Tsuchiya. The unnamed writer of the letter says that Tsuchiya should not be found guilty as he was only following the orders of his superior officers. He goes on to say that newspapers and journalists aided in polluting the minds of the people through propaganda. He asks that Tsuchiya be given thorough consideration. The original letter in Japanese and its envelope are attached.
