Randall, Director, Board of Parole and Probation, Salem, Oregon, from Jack Ross, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact (by Maizie Toungate, Supervisor, Parole Division), Board of Pardons and Paroles, Texas, dated February 10, 1955. Toungate advises Randall of the acceptance of Subject OSP 22624 for supervision advising that Subject is to report to Mr. T. N. Carswell.

A form letter addressed to Mr. Vice-Chairman from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, 24th District Chairman, dated February 12, 1941. Carswell requests of the Vice-Chairman to help the Pastors of the different churches in their county to organize and put over the Car Cavalcade of Youth to the Capital. "We, in the 24th District, are vitally concerned since we must feel the humiliation of having liquor sold in our counties when we have voted it out by substantial majorities." An attachment includes a list of names of Vice-Chairmen to whom letters were sent regarding the Car Cavalcade of Youth to the Capital.

Carswell advises the Board of an attached copy of the last required report from Subject OSP 22624. He expresses his faith in his conviction regarding Subject "that his forward pathway would be straight", and he expresses his appreciation for their responses to his inquiries which helped him to help Subject. The attachment includes a Final Report letter addressed to Gentlemen--Oregon State Board of Parole and Probation, Salem, Oregon from parolee, Abilene, Texas dated February 4, 1959. Subject OSP 22624 expresses his appreciation for his Discharge from Parole and discourses on his life and family situation since moving to Texas, the successes and the trials endured. He advises of his only fear being of the impact that his record might have on his son's ambitions to become an ensign in the U. S. Navy via an appointment to Annapolis. Stell, Commander, 17th District, The American Legion, Anson, Texas, dated February 5, 1945. Stell requests a full representation of his Committee at the Mid-Winter War Conference in Abilene, Texas on February 18, 1945 in the Ball Room of the Wooten Hotel. Handwritten note at bottom of page by T. N. Carswell suggests a study of Foreign Relations during next several months.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from A. S. E. Carr, Secretary for Tom Connally, United States Senate, dated February 4, 1946. Carr acknowledges that the letter from Carswell dated January 26 has been received in the absence of Senator Connally who is in London as a delegate to the United Nations Assembly. He assures Carswell that the Senator "will bear in mind" Carswell's views regarding the various matters mentioned.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, c/o Parramore Post No. 57, Abilene, Texas, from Allen Wight, Touchstone, Wight, Gormley & Touchstone, Dallas, Texas, dated February 7, 1941. Wight advises Carswell that there is no newspaper mat available. " I am very sorry, but I ain't pretty." The reverse side includes miscellaneous handwritten notes.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Annie C. Whiteside, Registrar, Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg, Virginia, dated, February 19, 1940. Whiteside acknowledges to Carswell the receipt of the application and reservation fee for his daughter's admission to Randolph-Macon advising that they will write regarding her credits after receipt of her high school transcript.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Price Daniel, Attorney General, The State of Texas, Austin, dated February 12, 1952. Daniel expresses his appreciation for the response by Carswell to his "announcement speech for the United States Senate" and for the support shown by Carswell. He advises that he will be "getting in touch" as the campaign progresses requesting that Carswell continue to enlist the support of his friends.

A letter written to Mr. Carswell from Bessie H. Radford, dated February 25, 1944. Radford expresses her appreciation for Carswell remembering "the anniversary" after all these years and thanks him for the red roses. [Flowers sent to remember a party given on February 25, 1933 to celebrate "50 years of building Abilene" honoring J. M. Radford.]

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from C. C. Armstrong, Pastor, First Methodist Church, Anson, Texas, dated February 24, 1941. Armstrong describes the lack of organization of the drys in Jones County and the refusal of Judge Miller to act as County Chairman.

A letter written to Tommy Carswell from Dorothy Clarkson Lloyd, dated February 22, 1968. Lloyd expresses her appreciation to Carswell for his kind and thoughtful letter noting that Claude would have liked it. She advises that Carswell was one of Claude's dearest friends, that his illness was brief and that she was proud and happy to have been part of "this wonderful person's life" and no one need be sorry for her.

Burkhart requests a response from Subject A-9803 on whether he intends to proceed or postpone the processing of the clemency application.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from E. G. Haynes, Secretary to Mr. Johnson, R. H. Johnson & Co. Investment Securities, N. Y., dated February 19, 1946. Acknowledgement to Carswell of the receipt of his letter of January 16th during Mr. Johnson's absence. An assurance is given by Haynes that the address Carswell has for Thos. Cook and Sons is correct.
