This report traces the development of DOD-sponsored childcare services and discusses these issues in greater depth in order to support Members of Congress in their oversight role. The next section gives an overview of DOD's justification for the CDP program and demand for services. Next is a discussion of current CDP components, policies, and funding. This is followed by the legislative history of DOD-sponsored childcare in the military. The final section discusses issues and options for Congress related to oversight and funding of military childcare programs.

The OA2020 Expression of Interest

OA2020 is an international initiative that supports institutions committed to a large-scale shift toward open access to the scholarly journal literature. Institutions that sign the Expression of Interest commit to making a good-faith effort to devise and implement practical strategies and actions for transitioning their funding for subscribing to journals to supporting open access. Oral History Interview with C. James Erickson, August 10, 2018

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with C James Erickson. Erickson enrolled in the Army Specialized Training Program in January of 1944. He completed radio training. Erickson was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 343rd Regiment, 86th Infantry Division. They completed additional amphibious training in California. His training was complete in the fall of 1944. Soon thereafter his company was sent to Europe to participate in the Battle of the Bulge. They traveled into Germany and replaced the 82nd Airborne Division in Cologne. Erickson provides details of his combat experiences. After the war ended, he remained with the Army of Occupation in Germany, and returned home for discharge in January of 1946.
