Photocopy of a letter e-mail from Jack Davis, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts to his colleague to Bill McCarter, that Davis received prior. The email is to the "Houston Group" from Jack and Jeff, reminding the group about the press announcement of Transforming Education Through the Arts in Los Angeles, set by Harold Williams and Vartan Gregorian for October 11, 1995. Davis asks of the group who can go to LA and to let Vicki Rosenberg know by September 25th and to let her know how many directors and funders are able to make the trip as well.

Wiggins requested that the grant money, intended to be used for support of Dallas I.S.D's participation in the Secondary Institute be used to stipends for participants of the Elementary Institute instead. Davis writes back that this is not possible for several reason which he encloses in the letter, the first being that he does not want to jeopardize the relationship with his funders by using the grants for something that was not made clear in the condition when the money was given. Davis explains that if the money is not used for its original intended purpose for which they were in agreement, then they are obligated to return the money back. Davis writes that as one of the Getty Regional Institutes, NTIEVA would be involved in Year IV and participate in the projects components such as the curriculum development, instruction strategies, developing electronic portfolios and other computer-based education projects. In the rest of the letter Davis writes about their other projects with the Dallas Museum of Art and Prairie Vision for the past decade and the strides they've made towards their goals.

Davis is planning on sharing Jericho's letter to the David Sharder, Dean of the College of Music as he might have an interested in Patchen speaking with the music faculty.

Wiggins goes onto to say that their visual arts teachers have been positive about the impact that NTIEVA programs have had on the schools. Wiggins hopes that Davis and McCarter will continue to keep them in the loop when opportunities to work with North Texas and the Getty Foundation arises.

The letter details that Prairie Vision provides professional development in discipline-based art education for teachers, administrators and others. The grant will be used to the continued growth of the project and to address many of their programs needs. Included in the letter is the planning grant document.
