Abstract: This report is a synthesis of published and unpublished data on the rocks of the Anadarko basin.

Report describing a study to use remote-sensing techniques to look for relationships between disturbances of the land, water, and vegetation with underground coal mines in the Cherry Creek basin of Kansas. The study looked at color and color-infared photographs, compared with water-quality data to successfully identify contamination and other potential problems.

From abstract: This report contains the complete Bouger and isostatic residual gravity maps of the Anadarko basin, Wichita Mountains, and surrounding areas on parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Colorado that were compiled using gravity data from 11,023 stations.

From abstract: The High Plains Regional Aquifer System Analysis study has developed a regional water-resources (and related) data storage and retrieval system to organize and preserve areal interpretive data. The system is general and can easily be adapted for other studies. This report documents the High Plains data base as well as the general system that is independent of the High Plains area.

The following report covers investigations on sedimentary rocks of Middle Pennsylvanian age in northeastern Oklahoma, southeastern Kansas, and western Missouri. Distribution of uranium and other trace elements in these rocks was studied during 1955 and 1956.

From Purpose and Scope of Report: This report presents a detailed description of the ore deposits of the Picher field and all phases of geology having a bearing on their localization, origin, and the search for them. Fowler and associates, and some unpublished data obtained from the geologic staffs of the mining companies.

From purpose and scope: The objectives of this cooperative investigation between the U.S. Geological Survey and Southwest Kansas Groundwater Management District No. 3 were (1) to update and interpret geologic and hydrologic information affecting the Ogallala aquifer in Ford County, and (2) to evaluate hydrologic conditions in the Ogallala aquifer in Ford County during 1980 and 1981.

Abstract: A computer model was developed to calculate the drawdown, due to a proposed well, at all existing wells in the section of the proposed well and at all wells in the adjacent eight sections. The depletion expected in the 9-square-mile area due to all existing wells and the proposed well is computed and compared with allowable limits defined by the Southwest Kansas Groundwater Management District No. 3. An optional program permits the evaluation of allowable depletion for one or more townships. All options are designed to run interactively, thus allowing for immediate evaluation of proposed ground-water withdrawals.

From introduction: The U.S. Geological Survey is currently conducting a two-phase investigation designed to provide hydrologic information about the coal-producing area in Miami, Linn, and Bourbon Counties of eastern Kansas (fig. 1). This report presents information to satisfy the objectives of the first phase of the investigation. These objectives are to: (1) assemble and interpret existing hydrologic data; (2) describe the physical and hydrologic environments based on existing data; and (3) determine additional data needed to evaluate the impacts of coal mining on the hydrology of the study area.

The following report provides information on the first field work on the radioactivity of Pennsylvanian black shales in Oklahoma and Kansas, 1944, and their findings.

From abstract: Radium-bearing precipitates derived from 'oil-well fluids have been found in more than 60 oil and gas fields in Cowley, Butler, Marion, Sedgwick, and Greenwood Counties of southeastern Kansas. The abnormal radioactivity of these precipitates has been studied through the use of gamma-ray and sample logs; by radiometric, chemical petrographic, and spectrographic analyses of the precipitates and drill samples; and through the use of chemical analyses of brines collected from oil wells in the areas of high radioactivity.
