From approach: This survey consisted of aerial gamma-ray spectrometer and magnet-meter data collection including: (1) Coverage of those portions of the Delta, Utah NTMS 1:250,000 scale quadrangle (Figure 1-1) which were not surveyed in 1976 under Bendix Field Engineering Corporation subcontract No. 76-019-L, Texas Instruments (1977a). (2) Reflights of portions of the 1976 flight lines which were out of altitude specifications. (3) Extra flight lines over the 1976 survey area to provide complete detailed coverage of the NW quarter of the quadrangle. The program also included processing and interpretation of the gamma-ray spectrometer data necessary to indicate potential new uranium prospecting areas.

From Introduction: "Uranium has been discovered in fluvial quartz-pebble conglomerates in most of the Precambrian shield areas of the world, including the Canadian, African, South America, Indian, Baltic, and Australian shields. Occurrences in these and other areas are shown in Figure 1.1. Two of these occurrences, the Huronian supergroup of Canada and the Witwatersrand deposit of South Africa contain 20-30 percent of the planet's known uranium reserves (Nininger, 1974). Thus it is critical that we understand the origin of these deposits and develop exploration models that can aid in finding new deposits."

This is an aerial reconnaissance survey report of the Delta Quadrangle in Utah.

From objective and scope: The objective of this report us to provide a descriptive body of knowledge on Cordilleran metamorphic core complexes including their lithologic and structural characteristics, distribution within the Cordillera, and their evolutionary history and tectonic setting. We also examine the occurrence of uranium in the context of possibility for uranium concentration.
