1916 First National Bank Building

Photograph of 1916 First National Bank building on the Plaza Square in downtown Paris, Texas. This building has a Texas Historical Commission historical marker outlining its history on the center column. The building is in the Classic Revival style and the upper part is ornamented with a white stone top cap that is supported by white stone carved consoles (brackets). The top floor is set back and has an ornamental white stone string course around the top of the next floor down, the top floor of the main part of he building. The windows are grouped in twos, threes, and fours, separated by red brick pilasters. Between the pilasters, the windows have a white stone string course forming the window ledges, and the tops of the windows have lentils for brick support. The ground floor has been modified to accommodate the Capital One Bank. The ground floor walls and foundation was built of steel reenforce concrete.

A letter report issued by the Government Accountability Office with an abstract that begins "To carry out the decennial census, the U.S. Census Bureau (Bureau) conducts a sequence of thousands of activities and numerous operations. As requested, The Government Accountability Office (GAO) examined (1) the Bureau's use of scheduling tools to maintain and monitor progress and (2) the status of two systems key to field data collection: the control system the Bureau will use to manage the work flow for paper-based operations, including nonresponse follow-up, and the system used to manage quality control of two major field operations. GAO applied schedule analysis tools; reviewed Bureau evaluations, planning documents, and other documents on work flow management; and interviewed Bureau officials."

21st Century Flood Reform Act (H.R. 2874): Reforming the National Flood Insurance Program

This report discusses the National Flood Insurance Act and the proposed 21st Century Flood Reform Act in the House. House leaders submitted an Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute (H.R. 2874ANS) on November 6, 2017, that would modify H.R. 2874, the 21st Century Flood Reform Act, to add provisions from the six other bills approved by the House Financial Services Committee. H.R. 2874 would authorize the NFIP until September 30, 2022. This report summarizes selected provisions of the bill, concentrating on changes related to premiums and surcharges, affordability, increasing participation, the role of private insurance, treatment of multiple loss properties, and some provisions related to floodplain mapping and mitigation.
