IN this letter Alexander regrets to inform Davis that after careful consideration after reviewing the proposal they cannot commit.

Photocopy of a letter from Suzi Alost-Reid to Bill McCarter, writing about how much Reid loved McCarter's presentation, leading them to a higher level thinking and that the "Chimney and Water Tower" is more meaningful now that McCarter lead them through the analysis of its elements. On October 17, Reid will lead an art discussion with Art Sinks to motivation teachers and students to use art to write to the TAAS objectives. Reid writes that she will use "Chimney" to open her discussions here forward because how McCarter inspired her, she thanks him and the involvement NTIEVA has made on her.

A brief description of Connecticut's performance assessments in High School Science and Mathematics, written by Joan Boykoff Baron, Ph.D, Connecticut State Department of Education. The Connecticut State Department of Education received a grant from the National Science Foundation to work with the Coalition of Essential Schools and the State Departments of Education to develop performance assessments in science and mathematics.

In regards to how much Broadus enjoyed visiting Patterson's classroom and how Patterson is a wonderful teacher to her students. Broadus would like to share some of the things Patterson is doing with other teachers in the Institute, especially some of the hall displays Patterson had. Enclosed in the letter Broadus has provided details about a Token Response Game that Patterson needs to collect for a future event.

In regards to Pedigo and the other fourth grade teachers on their Persian Miniature and Islamic art display in the school's foyer. Broadus writes that when she visited the school the past Wednesday, Sylvia Russel shared Pedigo's Mid-East unit and how art was included into the study. NTIEVA will be working with PPISD for the next five years and Broadus wants Pedigo to be apart of the program to help teachers integrate visual arts.

Brown would like to discuss this with McCarter at the meeting in Santa Barbara in January and wonders if Vicki Rosenberg will pay for an extra day to plan.

In regards to the recent turn down from the Richardson Foundation and J.C Penny to match grant funding from the Getty Center. Burton hopes that Swartzberg will look over the proposal and make any comments which would help strengthen their case.

Penny, Burton believes that they should obtain the Amon Carter grant sooner than originally planned and that Muro should schedule an appointment with Bob Crow to discuss the proposal for their educational reform program.
