Forman reminds the Legionnaires of the housing conditions and that things are abnormal in Fort Worth, the same as in any other city in the Nation due to the war effort, and to make all reservations with Mr. Herbert Joseph, Chairman of the Housing Committee.

A form letter from W. J. Wisdom, 17th Dist. Commander, The American Legion, Stephenville, Texas, dated August 7, 1942. Wisdom advises of the selection of Carswell as a member of the Department Convention Committee on Rules, and stresses that attendance at the convention is important.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, from a parolee/inmate in Weldon, Texas, dated August 22, 1954. Subject 108,345 asks after Carswell then describes the hot weather, that he is not much of a cotton picker but that he is improving every day and that he hopes to get on construction after cotton picking. He advises Carswell of a job opportunity that he received from his cousin in Austin. The envelope into which the letter was placed is also included in the record.

A letter To the Editor, written by T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, dated August 19, 1954. The letter asserts that "'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde', has come to Texas, not in fiction, but in the person as Judge Ralph Yarborough, candidate for Governor." An attachment includes a list of Texas newspapers to receive the Letter to the Editor written by T. N. Carswell. The list is handwritten on business notepad paper advertising Maxwell Steel Co., Fort Worth 1, Texas.

He assures Carswell that he feels they will be interested in a Field Day.

Whitten, Chairman, Taylor County Democratic Executive Committee, Abilene, Texas, dated August 17, 1956. A reminder that the second primary election will be held on August 25, 1956 advising of location and date to obtain election kits and supplies. Whitten calls a committee meeting for the opening and canvassing of the returns and advises of their poor financial situation and its effects on the paid help for the elections.

Turner, Captain, Infantry, 10th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, McMurry College, Abilene, Texas, dated August 20, 1941. Turner advises Carswell that he has enclosed a copy of a letter that he received from the office of Col. Bannister, deems the enclosed letter self-explanatory and assures Carswell of his interest in the guard and of his desire to be of service.
