[Mailgram Letter from Mario Marcel Salas to Sam Sitterle and Tom Poe - April 9, 1982]

Mailgram letter from Mario Marcel Salas, president of the Black Coalition on Mass Media (BCMM), to Sam Sitterle and Tom Poe. It would seem that both Sam and Tom were associated with the removal of two important radio programs from the air. Mr. Salas writes to respectfully request that both be reinstated, especially with the long history shared between Mr. Salas, BCMM, and KAPE radio, dating back to 1974.

Letter from Mario Marcel Salas, president of the Black Coalition on Mass Media, to the complaints and compliance division of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). It seems that, after buying a political advertisement to air on KAPE radio, the BCMM's ad was pulled from the air by the station when an official from the FCC ruled it to be a personal attack. The letter Mr. Salas sends is to inquire about the validity of the ruling, if such a ruling even occurred.

There is a small piece of paper attached to the front of the letter with a note from Thelma Andrews, a member of the San Antonio chapter of The Links, Inc. addressed to chapter president Margaret Winn. Letter from Ralph Yarborough explaining to Dr. Hector P. Garcia a Democratic publication in the Dallas area called The White Rocker and the need for pro-Democratic writings and Spanish-language publications. Yarborough asks Garcia to explore possibilities for such in the Corpus Christi area, Nueces County, or other areas of Texas. The letter was also sent to some other publishers of Spanish-language newspapers in the state.
