A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated April 28, 1941. Davis advises Carswell of the Senate refusal in the confirmation of Dr. Bradfield as Chairman, therefore, they are requesting the Governor to appoint Senator Thomas B. Love.

A letter addressed to Major T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Fred C. Smith, Moran, Texas, dated April 21, 1941. Smith advises Carswell that he and several of the men will attend the Albany Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet and wanted to avoid being absent for inspection if it was planned for the same evening. He expresses his appreciation for the courtesy shown to them by Carswell and the other officers and by the Chamber of Commerce.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell ("Tommy"), Abilene, Texas from J. D. Sandefer, Jr. ("Jake"), Breckenridge, Texas dated April 30, 1941. Sandefer expresses his appreciation to Carswell for a beautiful program.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from W. T. Walton, President, Ranger Junior College, dated April 23, 1941. Walton advises Carswell of the enclosed copy of the minutes of their meeting in Cisco regarding an organization for college students who are sons and daughters of World War Veterans, and he expresses his pleasure of having worked on the Committee with Carswell noting that he would see him at Hardin-Simmons for the inauguration of Dr. White.

A letter written to Major T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from D. F. Morris, Guy Taylor Post No. 61, American Legion, Albany, Texas, dated April 5, 1941. Morris acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Carswell regarding House Bill 373 and informs Carswell that he passed his letter on to Mr. V. H. Moore, Chairman of the local committee, advising Carswell that he had to resign from the committee but pledges his support un-officially.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, Parramore Post No. 57, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Walter Krueger, Major General, U. S. Army, Headquarters VIII Corps, Office of the Commanding General, Brownwood, Texas, dated April 1, 1941. Krueger expresses his appreciation for the invitation to attend the Army Day Celebration in Abilene but declines due to a previous invitation.

A letter written to Dr. W. R. White, President, Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, Chairman, "Army Day" Arrangements Committee, dated April 1, 1941. Carswell endorses the "Army Day" observance as worth while for the students and faculty of the University to see and advises that he would appreciate White changing the school schedule for that day.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from L. E. Dudley, Superintendent Abilene Schools, dated April 2, 1941. Dudley advises that he will comply with Carswell's request promising to dismiss the public schools so the pupils may attend the parade.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Parramore Post No. 57, Abilene, Texas, from Tom L. Beauchamp, Jr., Secretary to the Governor, Austin, Texas, dated April 5, 1941. Beauchamp expresses for Governor O'Daniel his appreciation for the invitation by Carswell to participate in the Abilene "Army Day" citing previously-made arrangements requiring his presence elsewhere.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Army Day Committee, Parramore Post No. 57, Abilene, Texas, from Paul A. Gavan, Major, Aide-de-Camp, Headquarters Third Army, Smith-Young Tower, San Antonio, Texas, dated April 2, 1941. Gavan replies for General Brees declining the invitation due to having already obligated himself to the Army Day celebration in San Antonio.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, Parramore Post No. 57, Abilene, Texas, from J. Watt Page, Brigadier General, The Adjutant General of Texas, Austin, Texas, dated April 1, 1941. Page acknowledges the invitation from Carswell to participate in the Abilene "Army Day" citing the Governor and he had previously committed themselves to be in Dallas at the opening of the American Aircraft Corporation Plant.

A letter addressed to The Mayor of the City of Abilene, Abilene, Texas, from B. L. Maloney, Major U.S.A.R., Fort Sam Houston, Texas, dated April 2, 1941. Maloney advises of the proposed visit, planned escort, program and travel accomodations of Mrs. Antonio Barkely, mother of David B. Barkely for whom Camp Barkely has been named and requests confirmation of the approval of this plan before any further steps are taken to make this trip.

A letter written to "Dad" [T. N. Carswell] from "Baby Doll - Peg" [Peggy Carswell], dated April 2, 1941. Peggy discusses her expenses asking if she is spending too much and advises that she wants a job for the summer at the hospital as an assistant for the experience since deciding to be a lab technician. She suggests for Carswell a new business idea and then explains regarding a new type of sign put out by Jack White of the Fleur Ray Sign Company of San Antonio. Handwritten postscript advises that she cannot type or handwrite but he "probably can read bad typing better than bad writing".

A letter written to Lt. Col. Neill H. Banister, Adjutant General's Department, Austin, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Major, 10th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, dated April 18, 1941. Carswell offers to make inspections in this area as Banister deems advisable.

A letter written to Major C.A. Dawson, 17th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, Throckmorton, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Major, 10th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, dated April 22, 1941. Carswell replies to a letter from Dawson and advises of the local Guard's intention to use the full uniform for officers. He provides examples of how the items that are needed to complete a uniform can be purchased frugally.

A letter written to Major Major R.H. Hansford, 15th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, Ranger, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Major, 10th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard dated April 29, 1941. Carswell expresses his appreciation for the compliment to him by Hanford requesting that Carswell ask for the appointment for the inspection of his units.
