Graham Flat Enclosure

Photograph of the Graham Flat Enclosure on the west end of Graham Flat in the east part of the Big Game Pasture. Flats site (loamy bottom in excellent condition, light utilization). Flattened appearance of vegetation near enclosure is largely due to characteristic lodging of big bluestem, plus some trampling and bedding damage by buffalo.

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge

Photographic follow-up of OK-1105-7. Fullingim Flat in Mt. Pinchot Pasture. This area is principally hardland range site. Vegetation during the 1940's and early 1950's was dominated by short grasses. Buffalo is concentrated in this locality. Management adjustments, including changes in salt location and mesquite control, have resulted in range improvements shown on return of miscellaneous grasses and moderate use. Note scattered stand of vigorous little bluestem plants. Taken during annual Soil Conservation Service cooperative grazing use check. OK-1583-9.
