A letter written to Mr. K. H. Pittard, Southwestern Life Insurance Co., Dallas, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Secretary & Treasurer, dated April 26, 1924. Carswell expresses his appreciation for the decision of Pittard's club to support Lion Green.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell from Charlie, The Menasha Products Company, Dallas, Texas, dated April 1, 1939. Charlie expresses his appreciation for the note from Carswell dated March 30 and assures him that the "expression" was worth more than silver or gold, that if he was of any help to Carswell, he is grateful. He advises of his fervent belief in the old saying that right will win out in the end and wishes all that is good for Carswell.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated January 14, 1941. Davis advises of having secured a copy of an amendment to the Texas Liquor Control Act advising of an enclosed copy for Carswell to consider.

A letter written to Dr. Jeff Davis, United Texas Drys, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman 24th Senatorial District Drys, dated January 16, 1941. Carswell expresses his appreciation for the letter and enclosure from Davis of January 14. He advises of his efforts to organize the 24th Senatorial District, describing the interest as luke warm but assures Davis that he will not stop until they have a set-up in each county. He advises of meetings already scheduled and requests the names of any leaders in the counties of the District.

A letter written to Mr. Allen Wight, Attorney, Dallas, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, dated January 18, 1941. Carswell advises Wight that the purpose for arranging the meeting is to acquaint the citizenship of this section with the need for defense and of the necessity for helping those now arrayed against the Axis powers.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Parramore Post No. 57, Abilene, Texas, from Allen Wight, Touchstone, Wight, Gormley & Touchstone, Dallas, Texas, dated January 20, 1941. Wight confirms that he is available to speak at the meeting and is "by no means a famous man" but, complying with the request by Carswell for a personal sketch, details his background: Born in 1889, a great grandson of Lyman Wight, who brought a colony to Texas in the days of the Republic; graduated Austin College in 1909 and spent 1912-1913 in Panama in the service of the Isthmian Canal Commission then engaged in building the canal; graduated the University of Texas (in Law) in 1915 and practiced law under Ellis Douthit in Sweetwater 1915-1917. "I went to the First Officers' Training Camp at Leon Springs in 1917; was commissioned captain, assigned to the Regular Army, going Overseas with the First Trench Mortar Battalion, which was engaged as Infantry at Chateau Thierry; operated two batteries of French Artillery at St. Miheil; and both operated as Infantry and used its Mortars in the Argonne. I was promoted to Major after the Armistice, remaining in the Reserve Corps until 1937." Wight called the …

Davis supplies a list of names, as requested by Carswell, of key men in the District and advises that Dr. Walter H. McKenzie of University Baptist Church in Austin be their official representative to the Legislature.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated January 21, 1941. Davis discusses the strategy of the campaign to be used in church services advising that the temperance question should be presented in an educational way. Handwritten postscript on right edge of page advises that Davis will send a copy of the letter as requested by Carswell. The reverse side includes notes handwritten by Carswell for a sermon regarding action which should be taken against the liquor market.

Davis asks Carswell to write or wire his Senator in reference to the liquor traffic bringing pressure to defeat the confirmation of the appointment of Dr. W. D. Bradfield as Chairman of the Texas Liquor Control Board.

Wight confirms he will be expected to talk about twenty minutes and advises that he has requested of Mr. R. L. Thomas to send his printed matter.

Davis expresses his appreciation for the letter advising him of the support of Carswell's Senator for Dr. Bradfield's confirmation. Davis touches on an exciting event and promises that he will send a self-explanatory letter regarding "a calvacade of youth to Austin" requesting that Carswell get Abilene's support.

Davis asks if Carswell will attend the State Brotherhood Convention and requests that Carswell delegate two or three of his men to represent him if he cannot be there. He advises that he will be staying at the San Jacinto Hotel in Houston or to write him at the office.

Methven complies to a request from Carswell and supplies copies of a letter. She advises that she is replying only to the questions to which she knows the answers noting that her father is out of town.
