[Letter from Willie, Alice, and Dinkie McGee to Mary Ann and Charles B. Moore, December 31, 1882]

Letter written by Willie, Alice, and Dinkie McGee to "Aunt Mollie and Uncle Charlie." They all discuss Christmas and the turkey, corn, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, custard and dew berries they had to eat. They all say thank you for the gifts they received. Willie talks about his kite, Alice talks about the candy, raisins, and oranges they got for Christmas, and Dinkie talks about Birdie's adventures with "old Chris." Includes envelope from original letter addressed to Mrs. Mary Moore. Note says it was received on November 4, 1883.

Animal Power.

Patent for a new and improved animal power (engine). This design "consists in an animal-power constructed with a small wheel placed loosely upon a stationary upright shaft, and connected by hinges with the inner ends of arms and sweeps attached to the main wheel, which is mounted upon caster-wheels to support the weight of the wheel and its attachments. . . . The object of this invention is to economize power and promote convenience" (lines 16-25).

Patent for a new and improved revolving plow. This design calls for a cylinder with blades attached radially for "cutting up, breaking, and turning over the soil or turf, in which the cutter blades are freed automatically" (lines 7-10). Running Gear for Vehicles.

Patent for a new and improved running gear for vehicles. This design "has for its object . . . to dispense with the reach or pole, and while doing this to provide for or avoid interference with the normal action of the springs, and to render it applicable to vehicles already in use. To these ends [the] invention consists in the employment of braces adapted to be connected to and permit the springs to have the required movement, and also of additional braces arranged between the body support or frame and axles, having the one a slotted plate and the other a slotted bridge" (lines 15-27).
