Davis describes a "hotel mixup" including the Grace Hotel, the Wooten Hotel, the Hilton Hotel and a Tourist Court when he was in Abilene and expresses his dismay at forgeting the proposed meeting with Carswell. He advises that they are sponsoring an anti-advertising bill which is being scouted by Senator George Moffett, that Representative John Connally has introduced a ten-mile bill like the one passed in 1918 that dried up the State and that they plan to get behind the Governor's curfew bill. Davis expresses the need for more Field Days assuring that the events will be more fruitful than in the past.

Davis expresses his appreciation to Carswell for the information contained in his letter; he compares Carswell's resolutions regarding "the work" to his own in 1935 and points out how those views compare with the current incumbent and Dr. McConnell. He then describes the work required by him "to get things in shape for some one else to carry the work on".
