Animal Shears.

Patent for new and improved animal shears. This design calls for a spring with eyes at the ends so that the handles of individual blades may be inserted through them. Then, nuts fasten the individual blades to the spring, which makes sharpening easier and breakage less likely.

Signed carbon copy of letter from John J. Herrera, LULAC First National Vice-President, to George J. Garza, LULAC National President, dated January 22, 1951. The letter provides notification of a new LULAC Council organized in Eagle Lake, Texas on January 21, 1951. Herrera lists provisional officers and members. Herrera next visited Palacios, Texas, and presented the charter to the new Palacios LULAC Council. Herrera also confirms delivery of charter to the Wharton Ladies LULAC Council.

Letter from Oscar M. Laurel, LULAC Executive Secretary, to John J. Herrera, LULAC National Organizer, dated January 22, 1952. Laurel conveys the approval of the LULAC Supreme Council for sociological and statistical data contained in the report by Lyle Saunders and Olen T. Leonard, entitled, "The Wetback in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas." Laurel writes that the council also condemns the false and prejudiced statements attributed to three people interviewed by the sociologists. This report is to be discussed at an upcoming LULAC Convention.
