Photograph of smoldering ruins of a building on a street. Front and roof of building is missing due to fire damage. Cinders and rubble is strewn across the sidewalk. photograph was taken in the night time. Caption: "Maysville started to drill first well Monday for a new water supply. The Volunteer fire department has been expecting delivery of a new pumper fire truck any day. Tuesday night, firemen strung hose to fight a small blaze in the Granada theater, but nothing happened when they turned on the water. The picture at top was taken four hours later, after the fire ate through a half block of business buildings in the Garvin county city of 1,800 to pile up a damage total of $50,000."

Wide-shot photograph of four firefighters in firefighting suits, hosing down burning tires on the left. Two of the firefighters hold one hose while the other two hold another hose, pointed at a spot farther away. A large tree stands just beyond the farthest firefighters, and there are more trees barely visible in the background. There are a few stacks of tires obscuring the closest firefighters and much of the background on the left is obscured by smoke. On the back of the photograph are a label and two stamps giving information about the photo, including the photographer and date.
