The tape was recorded during the celebratory weekend held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. of Melba Moore performing with a large choir on Sunday, January 12th. The footage shows Moore singing on a large stage backed by a 175-person choir dressed in white robes standing on risers. The footage includes various choir soloists and moods of music.

Video footage from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded during Dr. Jester Hairstons' concert "Portrait of Negro Life in Song" performed by a choral group on April 14th, 1991 at the Dallas convention center theatre. The footage shows Dr. Hairston conducting the mixed-gender choir while also speaking between songs. The music is gospel in nature and inspired by Black spiritual folk music as outlined in the program.

Video footage provided by The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded during a news section on the conflict between the city of Dallas and the academy over a new location in the developing Dallas arts district. The story outlines the conflict taking place between January and June of 1984 over the Austin street building that was awarded to the academy being uninhabitable, unsuited for the organizations, and ultimately to be torn down in five years. The issues addressed were unkept promises by city officials and misinformation. The footage shows an in-depth interview of Curtis King and the mayor's political consultant Judy Amps.

Video footage from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded during the 1997 summer youth arts institute production "It Takes a Village". The performance was held on June 14th, 1997. The footage shows a room with a low stage and the audience seated in folding chairs. The children perform as a group in white shirts with blue logos by dancing and singing. At the conclusion of the performance, adults thank volunteers and hand out certificates.

Audio cassette from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded during on the second day of the Beah Richards workshop at the "One In Mission" A Convocation on the Relationship of the Black Church and the Arts event. Beulah Elizabeth Richardson professionally as Beah Richards, was an American actress on stage, screen, and television. The audio quality is very low and it is hard to hear what Beah Richards is saying in the beginning, audio at some points will be loud with workshop attendees laughing.
