Burleson expresses his appreciation for Carswell's efforts in his behalf regarding the Ways and Means appointment and for his comments on the matter of Adam Clayton Powell.

Carswell advises of the plans to propose a Texan for National Commander and requests information on the approximate amount of money that was expended in electing Judge Waring.

A letter addressed to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, Austin, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, dated July 6, 1957. Carswell requests a supply of Monthly Report forms, advises of his exhausted supply and the reason, therefore, of his request that they accept this monthly report on parolees on regular paper.

A letter written to "Mother" and "Peg" [Byrdie Carswell and Peggy Carswell], from "Daddy" [T. N. Carswell], dated May 6, 1932. Carswell tells about a fishing trip he took with H. B. Stevens, R. F. Babb, J. W. Weems, Hardy Grissom, George Minter, Henry Bass, Dilworth Parramore and Walter Baker. He notes that he was a bit sore and sick afterward yet wishes that he could have ten days of "such outing" but that it is not possible.

A letter written to Claude Lloyd from T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, dated June 6, 1960. Carswell advises that he called due to word that Lloyd was ill and proceeds to convey his feelings of friendship. He requests that Lloyd send PE [Phillips Exeter Academy] literature to Sonny Blair and Robert Fielder and informs Lloyd of the boys' qualities and of their family backgrounds. He closes the letter announcing that he is to be a grandfather, again.

A letter written to Dr. Preston E. Harrison, Big Spring, Texas from T. N. Carswell, dated December 6, 1962. Carswell references a letter from Harrison and advises that he has received no word on whether he owes or is due a refund from the hospital. Carswell requests the opinion of Harrison's medical staff as to whether or not her heavy medication has anything to do with Mrs. Carswell's poor physical condition.

A letter addressed to Mr. E. A. Burkhart, Adult Authority, Sacramento, California, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County (Texas) Parole Board, dated March 6, 1954. Carswell makes a request that the application for pardon for Subject A-9803 be postponed for the present.

A letter written to Governor Allan Shivers, Austin, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated August 6, 1955. Carswell advises of the one purpose he has in writing this letter which is to express the hope that the National Committeeman selected will be one of "our color" noting that there is already some deflection in their ranks, and should one not of their number be named National Committeeman, he fears the hurt will be severe.

A letter written to Mr. Hugh Prather, State Democratic Executive Committeeman, Dallas, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated August 6, 1956. Carswell expands upon a suggestion made by Prather regarding the creation of a permanent organization for conservative Democrats of Dallas County by suggesting the creation of a statewide organization and establishing Dallas county as the headquarters. He offers congratulations to Prather and Ed Drake for their "great victories in May".

A letter addressed to the Ideals Publishing Co., Milwaukee, Wisconsin from T. N. Carswell, dated November 6, 1964. Carswell advises of an attached check for which Ideals is to "fill in" to cover a subscription for one year for Ed, Christi, Annette and Sherri Rhodes of Abilene, Texas. Carswell requests that the greeting card carry a message expressing his "great good fortune to have such wonderful young friends" and is conveying his appreciation of that friendship with a subscription of IDEALS hoping they will enjoy the contents. He quotes Carl Schurz, "Ideals are like the stars - we never reach them, but like the mariners of the sea, we chart our course by them."

A letter written to Louis A. Johnson, Secretary of Defense, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, dated June 6, 1949. Carswell advises of the needs of a "wholly dependent mother, helplessly ill, of an enlisted man" and requests information regarding U. S. Army help for the families of enlisted men. He requests that the proper authority in their Department reply as to "what the Army can do if it wants to", that the Army can do something if it wants to, therefore, this inquiry is to find out what it can do.

A letter addressed to Major L. M. Fellbaum, Field Division, State Selective Service, Austin 17, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, CAS, Dallas, Texas, dated November 6, 1943. Carswell orders two sets of Application Forms for employment to replace the sets he gave to the Dallas Board and advises of being shorted one copy of Form 57 in the sets that were sent to him in Laredo.

A letter written to General William S. Key, Major General 45th Division, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, dated February 6, 1941. Carswell confirms the plans for the "Defend America" meeting featuring Judge Allen Wight and W. R. White of Hardin-Simmons University as speakers. He requests that Key speak, but if it is not convenient for him to attend, that he ask one of his officers to accept a place on the program instead.

A letter written to a parolee/inmate in Weldon, Texas from T. N. Carswell, Chairman of the Taylor County Parole Board, dated September 6, 1954. Carswell advises Subject 108,345 that there is no change of date for reviewing his request. He explains that when he broke his parole he had to start over from when he was released on parole, that the Board requires a minimum time to be served by those who violate Parole before they will again consider them for release. He advises Subject to grit his teeth and take his situation in stride with good grace.
