Arrival of Natural Gas in Marshall from Caddo Field May 24, 1909
Color tinted halftone postcard of the arrival of natural gas in Marshall, Texas, from Caddo Field. It is a dramatic nighttime view of a crowd standing in front of the Harrison County courthouse looking at a large flame atop a high gas standpipe anchored by wires to the ground. The caption at the bottom of the image describes the event: "Arrival of natural gas in Marshall from Caddo Field, May 24, 1909. Length of pipe line 25 miles, pressure 185 pounds. Marshall Gas Co., Marshall, Texas. Parker-Corti Photo." The postmark on the back is dated 1909, and the writer claims to have been among the crowd in the image. It is addressed to Mrs. John T. Gose, Shelbina, Missouri. Printed on the left edge of the back: "Made by Chilton Printing Co., Phila., Pa., U.S.A.

Postcard of Beaumont City Hall on Main Street between Gilbert and College streets. Two men can be seen standing on the right bottom of the picture. This building was built in 1909 to serve as a cooperative market by the City of Beaumont, but was used as a City Hall and Jail from about 1910 until 1926. Later in the 1920s it was used as a market and at one time went by the name of the Nancy Tevis Market. Printed on the top left of the postcard is "City Hall, Beaumont, Texas.--19." Printed on the back of the postcard is the following information regarding its creation: "E.C. Kropp Co., Milwaukee" and "27097N." The card is addressed to Mrs. C S Browne (?) 111 Long St, West Roxbury, Mass.

The Beaumont Country Club was formed in 1906 on a hill overlooking the Neches River on a hundred acres of land. Printed at the top left of the postcard is "Country Club House, BEAUMONT, Texas." Printed on the back of the postcard is the following information related to the postcard's creation: "Made in Germany. D.J. Hicks, Importer and Publisher, Beaumont, Texas" and "G.A.P.C.M. Co., N.Y."
