Childress discusses joining the army, deployment to the Philippines before the war, the Japanese invasion, forming guerrilla groups, operations and survival on Mindanao, and the Allied invasion and liberation. In appendix are a congressional recognition of Childress and others guerrillas' service in the war, an autobiographical account written by Childress, and a series of action briefs reporting the guerrillas' operations.

Smith discusses entering the Army and training, events prior to the attack, the morning of December 7th and the bombing of Schofield Barracks, the aftermath and defensive preparations, and his later service in the Pacific Theater.
