North Texas State University has recently received a planning grant from the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, an operating program of the J. Paul Getty Trust, to plan for the establishment of North Texas Regional Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts "North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts,". Hurley writes that they appreciated Wright's support in obtaining the planning grant, and would like to invite Wright to be a guest for lunch and an executive briefing on the project at the Pinnacle Club, Interfirst Bank Building, June 17, 1987.

Davis and McCarter regret that Wright was unable to join them for the executive briefing on the North Texas Regional Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, "North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts" (NTIEVA), Wednesday, June 19. Following the briefing was an all-day workshop, Friday, June 21 which was attended by staff representatives from each consortium in the Institute, to discuss grant proposals which with offer opportunities for staff development and curriculum implementation in the visual arts. Enclosed at the end of the letter to Wright is information the functional committees and their list of responsibilities, for the upcoming Matching Funds Advisory Committee and Wright's assistance in its regard. Enclosed information not present with letter.

Davis is happy to share with Wright a copy of a letter to the Getty Center for Education in the Arts for the North Texas Regional Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, "North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts" (NTIEVA), which has been funded. Davis writes that they will begin work immediately to get the steering committee organized and to get the first conference meeting going. Davis ends the letter saying that with Wright, he is confidence that can put together a successful proposal for an implementation grant.

In the memo, Davis attached the grant proposal and thanks them for their assistance. In his handwritten note, "P.S. I thought you'd be interested in the untouched letter for Richard Colwell which I received today." Included with the memo is the letter from Richard Colwell, Professor of Music at West California. The letter mentions that the National Center for Research in Arts Education is over and has some ideas for a cooperative plan and would like Davis to share with him their proposal to look over the institution and incorporate similar ideas.
